The main body of the sewn textile collage is a multicolored woven loom fabric (rag/kourelou style) with the signature leather tag on top.
Most of the fabrics (and leather) are second hand, scraps, repurposed or deadstock in an effort of zero environmental waste. Deadstock fabrics are leftovers from bigger fashion productions (from other companies) and as an alternative of being left in a landfill and following the upcycling mindset by using the minimum possible natural capital and leaving the minimum ecological footprint, we created a one of a kind mixed media piece.
Packaging is recyclable.
In the textile collage, a boat is depicted as a typical scene from the Cycladic culture. Beyond the original label (made with second hand leather) on the right side, the yellow gingham print is sewn by the left edge, as a signature print of the creative studio. A multicolored patchwork loom fabric is set as the main background reminding that dark shades and thoughts are never a priority in our universe. As a final touch a glass bead with the typical greek evil eye is sewn on top of the sail to “protect” the boat from the negative energy and unfortunate events. The anchor is painted in acrylic paint and a repurposed leather cord is used as the main hanger of the piece. Designed, assembled and sewn in Athens spring 2020.
